My husband was a bit shocked that I spent $1,000 on a linen tote at first. The quality of materials and craftsmanship in this bag make it a great purchase. Short answer…YES! I’ve gotten so much wear out of the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote and it still looks brand new. It definitely became trendier this summer, but I do think it will be a hot item again next summer. I first spotted the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote last summer and bought it this spring. Will it still be in style next year?Ī linen summer tote will always be in style, in my opinion. Saint Laurent also now makes the bag in black canvas (which would be more ideal for travel) and a fun striped version. I’ve also purchased designer items from Farfetch – which has the bag in stock here. I’ve always had a really good experience purchasing from them. Luckily, Saint Laurent sells it directly on their site and it’s still in stock here! One of my other favorite retailers, SSENSE still has it in stock as well ( here). I bought mine from Saks, but it’s no longer in stock there. The Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote really blew up this summer – I’ve seen it all over Instagram and it’s sold out at a lot of retailers. It measures 18.7″ x 14″ x 6.2″ so it is quite a large bag. As previously mentioned, I do carry my laptop in it occasionally – which is probably the most weight I ever put in it. I get more concerned for the pressure put on the leather handles than anything. The bag is so lightweight, you never really have to worry about it weighing you down. It’s large size makes it not the most convenient bag to run errands with, but I love using mine when we head out to dinner or when we’re out and about on the weekends. While I envisioned using mine mostly as a summer beach bag, I actually find myself using it most as an everyday bag. It has leather handles and a button closure with a zipper pouch inside. I love that the bag can be worn as a shoulder bag or carried by hand too. The Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote can be used for a variety of purposes from a beach bag to a weekender bag to an everyday bag. From what I can tell, it does appear to still hold its shape after traveling though too. I would carry the dust bag along and put it in that before placing it under the seat or I’d just put it in the overhead space. Tucking it under the airplane seat would be my only concern because you’d have to fold the bag. I think it would make a great carry-on because it can hold so much. While I personally haven’t used this bag at the airport yet, I have seen a lot of girls on Instagram do so. I’m pretty particular about bags maintaining their shape so I always stuff mine with tissue paper or packing materials when I’m not using them just to be safe. Like anything made of linen you may seem some wrinkling or creasing if you use the bag frequently and stuff it full, but overall the structure of the bag won’t be compromised. This bag is a structured tote so it does hold its shape well. I haven’t worn it with dark denim yet so I really can’t speak to that, but that should be a consideration if you’ve had issues with dye transfer in the past. I have heard that dye transfer can happen if you wear it with dark denim. I don’t set it on the ground and I usually wear light colors with it. I’ve used the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote all summer and don’t have a spot on it. Here’s my full review of the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote and my answers to the most frequently asked questions… FAQS: Does it get dirty easily? This bag has been one of the best summer purchases I made this year and I would definitely recommend it. I have to admit buying the Saint Laurent bag in the linen fabric made me a little nervous, but the linen is coated so it definitely doesn’t wear like typical linen does. The main reason I didn’t go for the Chanel Deauville tote was because I was worried it would get dirty easily and I wanted to buy a summer bag that I could take everywhere and not be super worried about ruining it. I was a little torn between this bag and the Chanel Deauville tote in gold/ivory – which was obviously more expensive and harder to track down. I’ve actually had this bag on my wish list since last spring and after waiting an entire year, I knew as soon as spring hit that this bag would be my main designer bag purchase for summer. I’ve talked a lot about how I carefully make investment bag purchases and why I don’t typically go for the “it” bags of the moment. It’s been my go-to bag this summer and I envision using it as a travel bag through the fall. I bought my Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote this past spring and have already gotten so much wear out of it. After sharing my review of the Givenchy Antigona bag so many of you reached out asking me to review this bag next. Today I’m back reviewing another highly-requested bag – the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. I know many people are familiar with MS Word and they already have it on their computer and they don’t want to buy a new software or hire someone to format, but guess what? The formatting is the actual part of the book that people are going to read so it should look good. Did you try to format your paperback interior in MS Word? Did you “save as” a PDF or “print” to PDF? Did you save the color profile and use CMYK colors? They are literally giving you exactly what you need. Did you use the IngramSpark template for your cover? If not, I highly suggest that you do. Pricing – this section is just glitchy, pack your patience After you submit it you still need to approve the proof. Has it been for than 2 business days? I see people post this a lot and when asked they say they submitted their book an hour earlier. My book isn’t showing up on any of the retailer sites? 1. Or you bought the ISBN from an unofficial source and whoever sold it to you has sold it to multiple people. Likely you are adding a book that you already have self-published elsewhere. ISBN already in use – expanded distribution video. I’ve done videos on using their cover templates and just working with them in general, but here are the most common troubleshooting issues I see and how you can fix them: So I wanted to take a moment to answer some really common issues that I see a lot of authors have when they are submitting their files to IngramSpark. The original version of Apple TV was released in 2006 but didn’t prove to be a huge success. Among the first will be an HDTV and BluRay player from Sony and a set-top box from Logitech which are expected this autumn.Īpple has recently announced the release of the latest generation of Apple TV which takes a very different approach to that of Google. Rather than a releasing a single Google branded device, Google has defined a standard hardware and software platform which will be implemented by multiple device manufacturers. The software stack will include the Android operating system, Chrome browser, Flash and a new IP-based protocol to interface with DVR boxes allowing you search TV listings and schedule recordings. Google TV will allow all of this to be done via a 10ft interface with a remote control including a full QWERTY keyboard and pointing device. Google believes that their approach will be a success because they aren’t trying to re-create the web for the TV or make you choose between the web or TV, instead they want to give you access to the whole of the existing web and all the channels you already receive, as well as allowing you to install apps from the Android marketplace all from one device. Many companies have tried to combine web and TV experiences before, but it’s never really caught on. Apart from netbooks, tablets and smartphones another key target device for accessing Webian Home Server will be TVs. With big players having recently announced their entries into the smart TV space, this blog post explores their different approaches and the unique challenges of designing for the TV. It's pretty fun and sussing out the pickup locations is slightly challenging due to the teleporters that are involved. My most memorable fight involves a key and a mancubi ambush.ĭeliberately evoking "No Escape", but this offers seemingly more carnage through its invul-fed slaughter that summons successive Cyberdemons as you grab the demon keys. The blood pool / tower section to the east and southern cage yard feel particularly inspired but I'm just as partial to the ledge / pit layout that dominates the northwest. There's a lot of the classic PWAD high pathway / deep depths style a la "Circle of Death" but with tighter confines as befits "ancient" ruins. It's fairly interconnected and centered around an outdoor section that brings to mind the blood trenches of "Watch Your Step" without dwelling on it. This is a wicked cool temple-style level that realizes some of the promise of the original concept's "Hells from all civilizations" idea. The twisting, connecting tunnels and especially knotted western tip feel deliciously Doom 64. The eastern- and westernmost chambers have my favorite fights due to the arachnotron supremacy of the former and the sort of racetrack / cacodemon aspect in the latter. This locale includes blood sewers, hallways lined with jail cells, a subterranean courtyard, and a cool, circular outdoor structure. MAP35 felt slightly more like a "real" place, though, thanks to its outstanding exterior structural detailing. Thematically similar to "Evil Sacrifice" in that you have a brief outdoor area followed by a vast dungeon network. I really appreciated the puzzle in the southern wing, especially since - on its face - it feels like something brand new for this incarnation. The little renderer oddity makes the mechanical room-over-room structures so much more satisfying. This trades the claustrophobia of the originals for more intense player exposure, particularly during the super strong key ambush in the inner yard which has a couple of sneaky pain elementals. The setting feels more spacious than its Doom 64 precursors. It's very pretty though bereft of 1997's rugged charm. The love-letter starts you in the outskirts and has you work your way toward the central keep in order to access the southern and then northern towers. I especially like the fun detail of pouring the same baleful, red light over everything exposed overhead.Ī Kaiser re-take of the nested layer fortress approach of, most obviously, "Altar of Pain" and "Unholy Temple". Kaiser has a lot of fun with the colored lighting, here, giving all of the wall sconces their own particular shades. I enjoy the scripting since your initial panic at seeing the former is stoked even higher when the floor drops out to level the playing field for the latter. The solid core of pain elementals with an outer ring of arachnotrons makes for something that's still risky to blitz with the nearby, secret BFG. The opening outdoor area looks great with its beams of hanging corpses but the western bit has the biggest brawl. Not that you won't find a few of the latter. This gothic fortress takes the basic theme of "Spawned Fear" and errs toward the side of slaughteryards over dark dungeons. The author isn't quick to throw the hate on but there are tons of zombies, even more imps (normal and nightmare), and cacodemon waves. This is more of an attrition level than anything as far as difficulty goes. I dig the toxic trench, accessed early on, and the architecture of the northwestern area is cool. The architecture is wicked cool and I'm sure that more fun stuff will come given how intimately Kaiser must know the engine's capabilities. It's a complex outing, though, whose navigable layers must be explored via teleporters while the many apertures allow the imp varieties to harry the player. Some of the visuals offer thematic echoes of "Staging Area" and it even shares the same sort of long, winding pathway that links everything together. The first thing that hits me upon seeing this techbase level is how cool it is having more "modern" level design tropes rendered in Doom 64. Accidental glass breakage – NOT COVERED.Insulated glass seal – 20 years NOT lifetime.Breakdown of the Infinity window warranty: They say it has a “lifetime” warranty, but it sure does have a lot of limitations and exclusions. Unfortunately the Marvin Infinity warranty leaves much to be desired. This is more of a concern for some folks than others, but if you’re in a relatively high wind area or if you’re particularly concerned about a tight seal, the Infinity window might not be for you. That means it does not provide a particularly great seal in windy conditions. In addition you do get a pretty high air infiltration rating with this window. It will never be a top performer no matter how you order it. There are MANY options that affect the ratings so this certainly isn’t the only option, but the Marvin Infinity window will only ever be average in terms of efficiency ratings. You’re paying a premium to get this fiberglass window vs a vinyl window, but you’re not getting any real improvement in efficiency. You can see in this NFRC sticker showing the Marvin Infinity U-Factor that the ratings for this window are solid, but not remarkable. martin infinity u-factor and nfrc ratings This makes sense as the product was clearly designed to be pretty rather than the most efficient window on the block. The NFRC ratings for the Marvin Infinity window are pretty solid, but not particularly spectacular. Marvin Infinity windows without the typical tilt latch on the sash. As you can see in this picture, the Marvin Infinity window skips the typical told latches for a very clean and elegant look. One last design element to point out is the lack of typical tilt-latches. Marvin Infinity window hardware provides a classic look. There are MANY options and they have a very nice classic look. Notice the hardware in the picture below. If they are you probably don’t want to invite them over anyway! If you get up this close to it, you can tell that it is a separate piece, but nobody is going to go around you house inspecting things like this. You can see the joint between the grid and the sash frame is pretty tight and very clean looking. This means the grids are on the outside of the glass which is consistent with the look of a wood window. Marvin Infinity windows are often ordered with simulated divided lites or SDL grids. Here is a very nice looking Marvin Infinity replacement windowĪs you can see in the above picture the Marvin Infinity window does a great job of looking like a traditional wood window. It looks very solid, comes in a wide range of colors and offers a substantial amount of style options. First of all this a great looking window. The price difference is often very small.īack to the Marvin Infinity review. It would be worthwhile to compare the cost difference between fiberglass and real wood. With fiberglass replacement windows you’re paying a premium over the cost of a vinyl window to get the look of wood. While we’ll be writing another post soon on the advantages and disadvantages of different types of window construction it’s important to note that many wood replacement windows offer warranties as good or better than what you’ll get with a fiberglass product. Fiberglass windows are designed to replicate the look of a wood window with increased durability. It’s a bit of a different animal than either vinyl replacement windows or wood windows. Be sure to post a comment or send us a message with any questions!Īs we get started on our Marvin Infinity reviews it’s important to keep in mind that this is a fiberglass replacement window. See info towards the bottom of this post for the most recommended window companies in 2021.
